When Issy joined Bay City Gym in November 2024, her goal was clear: she wanted to get stronger and build muscle.
Less than two years later, she’s achieved an incredible milestone, deadlifting an impressive 65kg personal best.
Like many people starting strength training, Issy’s journey began with the basics. Her first deadlift was simply the bar. Working one-on-one with personal trainer Milli, she focused on developing great technique, building confidence, and gradually increasing the weight over time.
Today, that patience and consistency have paid off.
Not only has Issy become significantly stronger and gained muscle, but she’s also discovered something even more valuable: the discipline to keep showing up, week after week.
When asked about her biggest achievement, it wasn’t just the number on the barbell. It was building the routine and commitment that has helped her continue progressing.
As a result, Issy says she feels stronger, more motivated than ever, and excited to keep chasing new strength goals.
Her reason for training is refreshingly simple.
She wants to stay fit, feel better, and become the strongest version of herself.
And if you ever see her in the gym, chances are you’ll find her on one of her favourite pieces of equipment… the leg press!
Issy’s journey is a great reminder that strength isn’t built overnight. It comes from showing up consistently, trusting the process, and celebrating each milestone along the way. Whether you’re lifting your very first barbell or working towards your own personal best, every step forward is progress.
Congratulations, Issy! We are incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved and can’t wait to see where your strength journey takes you next.
Your story could be next.
