Here is Bay City Gym’s month by month event calendar for the remaining of 2023.
August kicks off with a target of walking or running a total of 100 kilometers across the month. You can use your smart watch or download the Strava App on your phone to measure your distance and then record each one on the registration sheet at reception. Get together with your friends and take a walk in the sun, walk on the treadmill when the weather is a bit dodgy but use this opportunity to train for Septembers challenge…
Sunday 24th September we are heading to the Kaweka’s and doing the Lakes Walk which is a 1-1.5 hour challenge up to the trig and gorgeous lookout. You really do feel like you are on top of the world up there. You will need a base level of fitness and good walking shoes with good tread. To train we recommend you start distant walking now. Find some hills and also don’t forget strength training for your knees and hips. Sets of squats, lunges, deadlifts, leg press and leg extensions will do the trick. Have a chat to the trainers at the gym if you are unsure about where to start.
October is a challenge of the furthest rower. It explains itself. Again a tracking sheet will be at the gym for recording your kilometers.
November brings the Mitre 10 Mega Walk and something new…the Flemington Mud Run!! Dates are Sunday 5th for the M10MW and Sunday 19th if you are keen for a Mud Run.
Lets not forget two group fitness launches along the way planned for September and December with new moves and music in the Les Mills classes.
