Reaching fitness goals can be challenging, but you don’t have to go it alone. Bay City Gym (BCG) is more than just a place to work out—it’s a resource packed with professionals and tools designed to support your journey. If you’re struggling to stay on track, here’s how reaching out to your gym can make a significant difference.
Schedule a Personal Training Session
One of the best ways to get personalized guidance is by working with a personal trainer. They can assess your current fitness level, help set realistic goals, and design a workout plan tailored specifically to your needs. Personal trainers provide motivation, correct your form to prevent injuries, and offer expert advice that can help you make the most of your gym time.
Depending on budget, BCG has several options available to you that you can utilise:
• Lifestyle Memberships have a free foundation program with 8 weekly assessments and goal setting services
• A 12 week Results Membership has weekly one on one PT sessions with a personal trainer of your choice
• One off personal training sessions are available
Attend Group Fitness Classes
Les Mills group fitness classes offer both structure and motivation. From high-energy spin/RPM classes to strengthening yoga and pilates sessions, these classes cater to various fitness levels and interests. Passionate and motivating instructors lead the classes, ensuring you get a great workout and stay engaged. Plus, the camaraderie of working out with others can boost your commitment and make exercising more enjoyable.
BCG also offers Small Group Personal Training Sessions. There are 7 classes per week on the timetable. Our personal trainers develop the workouts to suit the participants fitness level, goal and consider any options you may need individually. These groups are capped at 10 per group and provide motivation and results at an affordable rate.
Utilise Gym Resources and Equipment
BCG offers more than just standard equipment. Take advantage of the various resources available:
• Fitness Assessments: BCG provides initial fitness assessments to help you understand your strengths and areas for improvement. This baseline data can be invaluable for setting and adjusting your goals.
• Nutrition Advice: We have an onsite nutritionist and naturopath Bec’s Lowe. She can offer advice on how to fuel your workouts and achieve your goals. Proper nutrition is crucial for fitness progress and overall health.
• Corey Waterreus: New PT Corey joined our team recently and has a Diploma in Nutrition, Specialising in Health and Lifestyle Coaching.
• Specialty Equipment: Familiarize yourself with advanced equipment or classes that you might not have tried yet. The gym staff can guide you on how to use them effectively.
Join Gym Challenges and Programs
BCG organises fitness challenges, programs, and events designed to keep you motivated. Whether it’s a weight loss challenge, a fun run, or a new workout program, these initiatives can provide an extra boost of motivation and a sense of community. Ask your gym about upcoming events or programs you can participate in.
Seek Out Regular Feedback
Regular feedback from gym staff can be incredibly beneficial. Request periodic check-ins with trainers or instructors to assess your progress. They can provide constructive feedback, help adjust your workouts, and offer encouragement to keep you moving towards your goals.
Explore Gym Membership Perks
BCG has a Facebook ‘Members Only Group’ that you might not be fully utilizing. Ask to join the group where you can receive tips and information from BCG staff and ask fitness questions.
BCG also holds educational workshops. These resources can offer new ideas and strategies to enhance your fitness journey. The workshops we have had this year are ‘strength training for menopausal women’ and ‘managing your pelvic floor while exercising’. Please look out for Bysshe and Rach’s workshop coming where they share their stories and experiances with you to create that community and support network to help you. Bec’s is also planning a nutrition workshop for ‘How To Introduce More Plants Into Your Life’.
Engage with the Gym Community
Connecting with fellow gym members can provide motivation and accountability. Bay City Gym has an amazing community that has been building over the last 45 years. Engaging with your gym community can offer support, share success stories, and help you stay committed to your goals.
Communicate Your Goals and Challenges
Don’t hesitate to communicate your goals and any challenges you’re facing with the gym staff. Whether you’re struggling with a specific exercise, feeling demotivated, or not sure how to progress, let them know. We are there to help and can provide tailored advice, solutions, or modifications to fit your needs.
Take Advantage of Gym Orientation
If you’re new to the gym, make sure to schedule a gym orientation. This session often includes a tour of the facilities, an introduction to the equipment, and an overview of available services. Knowing how to use the equipment and what resources are available can make your workouts more effective and enjoyable.
Stay Informed About Gym Updates
Gyms often update their schedules, introduce new classes, or offer special promotions. Stay informed about these changes by checking the gym’s website, social media pages, or notice boards. New classes or programs might be just what you need to reinvigorate your routine.
By actively engaging with your gym and utilizing its resources, you can enhance your fitness journey and increase your chances of sticking to your goals. Your gym is there to support you, so make the most of the services and expertise they offer. With the right support and resources, reaching your fitness goals is not just a possibility—it’s a reality waiting to be achieved.
